Reference management tools

Reference management tools allow researchers to link to and correctly cite referenced works in their papers. Also known as citation management tools, the software can create proper citations in a desired style (e.g. MLA, APA, etc.). Additionally, reference management tools automate building bibliographies, footnotes, or reference sections in research papers.

TLU Academic Library currently offers user support for the following reference management tools:

Zotero (zotero.org) is a free reference management tool that allows you to:

  • collect, organize, and analyze research
  • create and manage your own systematized resource library
  • create bibliographies and add in-text citations to your documents
  • share documents with other researchers
