Authorised workstations provide access to digital legal deposit copies: books, magazines, and other materials with publisher-imposed access restrictions that are stored in the Estonian National Library’s digital archive DIGAR. Since January 1, 2017, preservation copies are received digitally in addition to the paper format. If a digital deposit copy is available, a link to it can be found in the Online Catalog ESTER. At these authorised workplaces, users can read and listen to publications, but there is no option for printing, saving, or connecting external data carriers. Photography and filming of the materials is prohibited.
Starting from 2024, the authorised workplaces have expanded to include:
- The Web Archive, a digital archive of Estonia’s cultural heritage, providing access to significant Estonian websites from 2010 onward.
- The ability to search the Online Catalogue ESTER and the Articles Database ISE.
Authorised workplaces offer access to the following e-services:
https://www.digar.ee, https://dea.digar.ee, https://www.ester.ee, https://artiklid.elnet.ee, https://veebiarhiiv.digar.ee.
Authorised workplaces for accessing digital legal deposit copies are located at the Research Library (Rävala Ave. 10) in the 3rd-floor reading room and on the first floor of the Study Centre (Narva Rd. 29).
