2023 is the year of saunas in Estonia. In honor of this, we have prepared a corresponding exhibition in the study centre.
Our exposition focuses on the importance of sauna in Estonian culture. Finno-Ugric life has been connected to the sauna from cradle to grave; the sauna has been a place for rituals, communication, healing, and the washing of the departed. The sauna is a holy place that cleanses both the body and spirit and so, the year of saunas is all about remembering the centuries of sauna in Estonia. In addition to Estonian sauna culture, the exposition also includes books on sauna construction, cleansing rituals in various cultures, and the effect of water and hygiene on the human body.
The exhibition is open in the study centre from 03.02 to 03.04.2023.
